About the sculptures : It's all about variety
Posted by jennyfer on 2009/9/19 7:35:00 (1798 reads)

I have returned to teaching English and Studio Art to high school students at Shawnigan Lake School. This means that there is not much time for creating personal art. (However, see the recently added bust of Graham, my 85 year old colleague, who has been a gem at the school for nearly 60 years!)

I have also stopped creating fibreglass pieces. I now sometimes use Aqua Resin when I want to create outdoor pieces. Thank you for your support and I hope those of you who purchased sculptures enjoy them for a long time.

I will continue to sculpt and create in a variety of mediums when time allows. I am working with environmental alternatives to polyester fibreglass, and finding this very hands-on friendly. Check out Aqua Resin. You have to file and sand quickly, or the rock-hard consistency will curb your enthusiasm if you leave it too long. Great product!

Encourage random acts of kindness and humour in your life, and love of life will all bounce back to you. Thanks for visiting my site.

Jenny's News : About Jenny Ferris
Posted by jennyfer on 2008/8/4 13:19:00 (1950 reads)

After attending art school in Dunedin, New Zealand in the 70's, and university in Alberta, Canada in the 80's, Jenny Ferris has worked with children and adolescents in schools for 25 years. Now in the Cowichan Valley, on Vancouver Island, she has explored novel ideas in the art of garden sculpture.

Born in England, Jenny has lived and worked in South Africa, New Zealand, England, Scotland and Canada. The humour of her Scottish father, the wisdom of her South African mother and the remarkable achievements of her 3 sisters and brother have all influenced her work and her life. Her family has supported and inspired her. "I have been nourished on love, mirth and a philosophical attitude towards life. We are the creators of our own destiny, but we need to pay attention to opportunities that come to us, and create memories every day that we will cherish."
